GREEN / ENVIRONMENT POLICY
CONCEPT DEFINITION:
A college campus is a place for agents of change. Green campus integrates environmental management and protection into institutional management. It combines environmental activities and education to promote sustainable and eco-friendly actions on campus. Green campus is a concept that combines the environment and campus life. A Green Campus can be understood not only as a campus with green accents due to its lush greenery, grasses, and trees but also involves a concept of sustainability in its management to promote utilisation of resources available in the campus environment effectively and efficiently, for example in the use of paper, writing stationery, the use of electricity, water, land, waste management, and others
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE POLICY:
(a) Sensitization of stakeholders.
(b) Green Landscaping
(c) A clean and eco-friendly campus
(d) Adoption and deployment of environment-friendly activities
(e) Minimize waste and consumption of water and energy
(f) Use of digital technology and management to reduce consumption of renewable and non-renewable resources.
COMPOSITION OF GREEN CAMPUS AGENCY:
(a) Principal of the College - Chairperson
(b) IQAC
(c) Academic Council
(d) Eco Club
(e) NSS
(f) Any other related cells/clubs/committee and or Volunteer from the students
The agency's composition to promote a Green Campus shall be open to all staff and students willing to participate in promoting the objectives mentioned above and related. Any activities or action Plan must be executed through a proper channel involving the above-mentioned composition, especially the Eco-Club and NSS and other related cells/committees for a more efficient execution of the policy plans and or actions.
ACTION PLANS OR GOALS OF THE POLICY:
- To sensitize the students and the staff to minimize the use of polluting products and use environment-friendly products and services. To do so, the institution must create awareness about environmental issues by organizing Events, Awareness, Campaigns, Cleanliness Drives, Workshops, presentations, Tree Plantation Drives etc.
- Link any form of green activities to academics through the involvement of both students and staffs.
- Seek activity ideas from all stakeholders to make Green Campus functional.
- Conduct Green Audit
- Work and Collaborate with any governmental or non-governmental agencies for the efficient promotion and execution of the Green Campus program.
- Evaluate day-to-day operations is in accordance with the three R of an environment which are “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”
- Reduce and or ban on single-use plastic.
- Promotion of sustainable resources.
- Promote conservation of resources such as water conservation, energy conservation.
- Promote waste management and recycling.
- Reach out and collaboration with the local community to promote a sustainable environment and the importance of cleanliness for a clean environment

Energy and Water management
MAJOR GREEN CAMPUS INITIATIVES:
The institution must work in the direction of the following:
- Green Landscaping: Planting different species of trees and plants adding to the already existing greenery.
- Waste Management: Waste must be categorized into its different types and be discarded and managed accordingly. Waste Bins must adhere to the types of waste and be placed around the campus and in or outside the classroom.
- Plastic-free campus or ban on single-use plastic.
- Cleanliness Drive.
- Tree Plantation drive.
- Digital Library / E-Learning resources.
- Use of a Learning Management System aided with different media Platforms for teaching and learning such as Zoom, Google Meet, YouTube channel for lecture Videos, WhatsApp etc.
- Disseminations of information through WhatsApp Group or other social media platforms for efficiency and reduction of paper waste for both students and staffs.
- Observation of World Environment Day and relevant related important dates.
- Execution of various Green Campus events and Cleanliness Drive through Eco-Club and NSS.
- Most lightings of the campus be changed to more efficiency lightings such as LED, etc.
- Conservation of energy using Solar energy.
- To make efficient and environmentally responsible use of water.
The institution recognizes that in accomplishing its strategic objectives, particularly in teaching and learning, it has a responsibility to safeguard and nurture the environment, and should strive to do so. By exercising effective control over all of its activities, the college hopes to ensure sustainable resource use and avoid wasteful or destructive practices.
