INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)
The Higher and Technical Institute, Mizoram (HATIM), as per the guidelines provided by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an Autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Bangalore, is under the Chairmanship of the Head of the institution and is composed of the following:

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in the year 2013 to meet the requirements of the Mizoram University and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Since its inception, IQAC has become a part of the college and has been working as the coordinating body among all the stake holders of the institution towards realizing the goal of quality enhancement and sustenance. Presently the institute has eight (8) departments:
1. Department of Computer Science that offers Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
2. Department of Commerce that offers Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
3. Department of Social work that offers Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
4. Department of English that offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) English
5. Department of History that offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) History
6. Department of Philosophy that offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) Philosophy
7. Department of Education that offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) Education
8. Department of Psychology that offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) Psychology
Objectives:
· To ensure continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution
· To maintain good relationship between stake holders viz. parents, teachers, staff members.
· To ensure the students to go in the right path so that they will contribute something good in the society and even to the institute in terms of finance etc.
The visions and roles of IQAC are -
· To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvements, quality and performance
· To make a significant and meaningful contribution towards academic excellence
· To usher in quality by working out intervention strategies to enhance performance
· To optimize and integrate modern methods of teaching and learning
· To disseminate information on quality parameters and share research with other institutions
Quality assurance and enhancement being an on-going campaign, the IQAC of the college organizes workshops and seminars on quality related themes and the various programs of the college have been documented in the form of a self-study report.
The IQAC is currently poised and preparing to welcome an expert team to assess and accredit the institution, for its very first cycle of accreditation under the auspices of the national assessment and accreditation council (NAAC), a statutory body of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Strategies
IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:
· Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks;
· Relevant and quality academic/ research programmes;
· Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society;
· Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;
· The credibility of assessment and evaluation process;
· Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services;
· Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.
Functions
Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
· Development and application of quality benchmarks;
· Parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;
· Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
· Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on quality- related institutional processes;
· Dissemination of information on various quality parameters to all stakeholders;
· Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
· Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
· Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
· Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and its follow- up;
· Preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC.

The operational features and functions discussed above are broad-based to facilitate institutions towards academic excellence and the institutions can and may adapt them to their specific needs, following the UGC-NAAC guidelines.
