ACTIVITIES: The outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic compelled us to minimize our existing departmental activities, only the major and unavoidable activities are highlighted below:
1. Webinar: The department tried its level best to optimum use of the advantages brought by Covid-19 pandemic by organizing numbers of webinars. The list below is webinars organized by the Department of Social Work during the academic session of 2020-2021.

2. Parent-Teacher Meeting: It is a college usual practice to organize Parent-Teacher meeting in every academic session. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the college has arranged to conduct online (Virtual) Parent-Teacher meeting in department wise, 6th September, 2021 was scheduled for our department. Although it was an online mode, we still had more than 60% of parent’s participation rate in the meeting. However, it was a grand success as teachers and parents had a quality time of interaction where the Principal and the admin staffs were also present with us to clarify the queries of the parents.
3. MoU with Department of Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Govt. of Mizoram: Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Mizoram and department of Social Work, HATIM signed on Memorandum of Understanding on 24th march, 2021 to collaborate in their endeavor to profile senior citizens for Covid-19 Care package within Lunglei District. For this task, the department assigned all the 5th semester students and under the guidance of sir. R. Lallianzela students successfully profile the beneficiary list of underprivileged senior citizens and delivered the care package on time. The package consist of eleven items i.e hand wash, hand sanitizer, masks, soap bars, toned milk, sorazo, nutrela, dal, paracetamol, multi-vitamins and biscuits.
4. World Mental Health Day: The 10th of October, 2021 was World Mental Health Day, the department of Social Work organized Webinar in commemoration of World Mental Health day on the theme of ‘Mental Health in an unequal world’. The event was divided into two sessions where Dr. Grace L. Sailo Asst. Professor Dept. of Social Work Mizoram University and Miss. Julia Vanlalruati Pachuau Guest Faculty Dept. of Clinical Psychology Mizoram University were the resource persons respectively.
5. Field Work Practicum:
(i) Rural Camp: Rural camp is mandatory and important component in Bachelor of Social Work. In this academic session, the rural camp was held in Putlungasih Village from 24thFebruary to 1st March, 2021. It is located in the Eastern part in Lunglei district with the total population of 1785, major population is Bru. Putlungasih was established in 1920 and was named after Pasaltha Pu Zatlunga. The department assigned two teachers miss. Rebecca and sir. C. Lalhlimpuia as Supervisor, students were divided into five sub-committees such as transportations, mess, sports, discipline, finance and PRA. The campers carried our several activities which include PRA, survey, hiking, games and sports. These activities had helped them in understanding the village and also helped in building rapport with the village people.
(ii) Virtual Observation Visits: Amidst the pandemic, observation visit was organized during 19th July to 23rd July, 2020 for the fresh students in online mode in the beginning of the academic session. The main aim is to expose the students to the setting and system of the Government and Non-governmental organizations offices and agencies. In this session, department arranged with five agencies within Lunglei town to accept our students to conduct observation in online mode such as Full Life Access Trust (FLAT), Project Sunshine, District Child Protection Office, Baptist Church Orphanage and Relief & Development BCM.
(iii) Block Placement: Mandatorily it is organized for every 5th semester student in order to accomplish field practicum. Students were divided into six groups each group were assigned with one faculty member as supervisor and students carried out block placement under the guidance of their respective supervisors. This time, it was organized during 15th February to 26thFebruary 2021 in the selected nine (9) agencies namely Chhawmdawlna In, ICDS Zotlang, TNT Centre Lunglei, ICDS Hnahthial, DCPU Lawngtlai, Hermon Childrens Home Aizawl, Gam Sabha Zonuam Aizawl, NYK Lawngtlai and, Mizoram Home Guard HQ Aizawl.
