The major activity that was organized to emphasize the Departmental activity in the academic session 2023-2024 is as below:
1. PARENTS-TEACHERS MEETING:
The Department of Education, HATIM has organized a Parents-Teachers Meet on the 19th of October, 2023 @ 1:00 PM. The Meeting was held at HATIM Auditorium and was presided over by F. Lalnuntluangi, Asst. Professor. Devotion was led by Malsawmsangi, Asst. Professor and a detailed presentation on the course Structure (NEP 2020 & CBCS) was delivered by Scully R. Laldinthari, Asst. Professor. A report on Departmental activities and academic performance of the students was given by Rebek Lalramtiami, Asst. Professor, Dept of Education followed by a presentation on ‘Fee Structure’ by Dr. John C. Lalduhsaka, IQAC Coordinator on behalf of the Accountants.
Question and Answer Session was conducted following the presentations where doubts of parents were clarified.
The Meeting ended with a prayer by Rev Joseph Vanlalruata.
The majority of parents attended the meeting while numbers of parents were not able to join the meeting due to transportation. However, the PT Meet for the academic year was successfully done.
1. EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO PRE-SCHOOLS:
On the 20th of September’ 2023, the Department of Education, HATIM organised an “Educational visit” for the Vth Semester (Education) as part of the paper “Early Childhood Care and Education” to:
1) Zobawm Montessori School, Venglai and
2) Loroto Play School, Farm Veng, Lunglei
On this visit, the students observed and explored the various activity-based teaching techniques applied in various pre-schools under the guidance of Miss Kimkimi (Principal of Zobawm Montessori School). Sir Reuben (Teacher of Loroto Play School) and Miss Nancy (Academic Supervisor of Loroto Play School) which was followed by an interactive session that enhanced the student’s knowledge and understanding of “Early Childhood Care and Education”.
2. OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY:
In India, National Education Day is celebrated on the 11th of November every year since 2008 to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
In observance of this day, on behalf of the Department of Education, the Vth Semester Students created a short inspirational video clip based on the theme for this year’s National Education Day i.e., “Prioritizing Education: Investing in our People”.
The main aims and motives of celebrating National Education Day are to aware of the value and importance of Education, and to inculcate and imparting the needs of education in the forms of social, emotional and ethical values circulating to a large number of students through social media.
3. VISITING ONYX SPECIAL SCHOOL:
On 9th February 2024, the students of VI Semester, Department of Education visited Onyx Special School along with two teaching faculty - Scully R. Laldinthari (course instructor) and Malsawmsangi, Asst. Professor, Dept of Education. It is a special institution for exceptional children run by MHIP, located at Chanmari Lunglei, as part of the paper “Special Education”.
The students learned the various teaching styles and techniques, the conditions of each of the exceptional children and the difficulties faced by them as well as their instructors. The students had a fruitful interaction with the differently abled children and their instructors which helped them in understanding and gaining knowledge regards Special Education.
4. COURSE OPPORTUNITY CAMPAIGN:
The Department of Education, HATIM has organised a One-Day Course Opportunity Campaign on the 21st March, 2024 @ HATIM Auditorium with Resource Person - Miss Eva Lalrampari, Assistant Professor, Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE).
The majority of students from the Education Dept attend the Seminar. Programme was moderated by F. Lalnuntluangi, Asst. Professor. Bible reading & Prayer was taken up by Malsawmsangi, Asst. Professor. Lalpekhlui from the 2nd Semester presents a special number to welcome our Resource Person.
Miss Eva gave a detailed presentation on the importance of Teacher Education and the courses offered with regard to Teacher education which was followed by a Q&A Session. The programme was ended with a Vote of thanks given by Rebek Lalramtiami, Asst. Prof, Dept of Education.
The campaign was indeed enlightening and fruitful for all the participants.
5. FIELD VISIT ON SEC (BASICS OF TAILORING)
On 5th April 2024, students from Basics of Tailoring course visited R&D Tailoring Centre under BCM, Zotlang and ZK Design Studio props Zualtei, Serkawn Lunglei under the guidance of course instructor Malsawmsangi and Rebek Lalramtiami, Asst. Professor, Dept of Education. The purpose of the field visit was to provide students with practical exposure to tailoring techniques and the functioning of a local tailoring business.
Activities and Observations:
R&D Tailoring Centre: A warm welcome from R&D Director Rev. L. Vanlalsanga with instructors and trainees. Miss Baby Lalnunkimi (instructor) imparted a valuable tailoring skill where students had the opportunity to observe and learn about various tailoring processes such as pattern making, cutting, stitching, and finishing. Students were doing practically with trainees and interacted with skilled tailors who demonstrated techniques and shared insights into the tailoring industry.
ZK DESIGN STUDIO PROPS Zualtei. Here, students witnessed the practical aspects of running a small-scale tailoring business, including customer interactions, order processing, and garment customization. They also learned about the challenges and opportunities faced by local tailors in the industry.
Participant Engagement:
Despite one absent student, the remaining 23 students actively participated in the visit, engaging with the tailors, asking questions, and showing enthusiasm for learning about tailoring processes and business operations. The presence of two teachers from the Department of Education facilitated a deeper understanding of the educational value of such field trips.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT (2023-2024)
As NEP 2020 has started from this academic year, various courses were introduced and the number of subjects increases comparing to the CBCS course.
NEP BATCH: At first, 30 students were enrolled for Education, currently, we have 20 students and several students from other disciplines opt for Education subject as their Minor and Multidisciplinary course. However, Value added course and Skill Enhancement Course (Basics of tailoring) were particularly taken up by the Department. A number of students from other disciplines as well do registration for their SEC course.
CBCS BATCH: As of now 24 students are enrolled for 2nd year and 14 students are enrolled for the final year.
The number of Students enrollment had decreased (drop-out) from the month of August, 2023 due to several matters. Hence, we have 58 students.
