REPORT ON ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION AND PRIZE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH NEDFi LUNGLEI BRANCH
In observance of Vigilance week, the Department of Social Work in collaboration with the Northern Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) organized an Essay Writing Competition under the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”.
A total of 20 participants took part in the essay competition. The essays were judged by two judges, each allowed to give 100 marks, making a total of 200 marks, based on 10 evaluation criteria such as originality, content, relevance to the theme etc.
The Prize Distribution Program for the competition was held on 28th October at 11:30 a.m. at the conference hall. The program was attended by all participants, department of social work students and faculty members as well as the chief guests Mr Lalhruaizela Fanai, Miss Teresa Lalchhandami and Mr Lalrempuia.
It began with welcoming remarks from Dr. C. Lalremtluangi. Miss Hannah Lalnunpuii Khiangte, Vice Principal of HATIM, delivered her greetings and Mr. Lalhruaizela Fanai led the prize distribution ceremony.
The winners were as follows:
• First Position: FC Rohlupuii (BSW 5th Semester) – 166 marks
• Second Position: Rosangzuala (BSW 5th Semester) – 144 marks
• Third Position: Hhmingthansangi (Commerce 5th Semester) – 139 marks
Consolation prizes were also awarded to all participants for their enthusiasm and participation.
During the event, Mr Lalfakzuala, Assistant Professor, inspired the students to be honest and hardworking. He also shared valuable insights on entrepreneurship effectiveness, how to apply for bank loans and career opportunities in the banking sector. Which was followed by a short question and answer session.
The program ended with a vote of thanks from Dr R. Lallianzela, HOD, Department of Social Work.
The event was a great success, encouraging students to express their thoughts creatively and promoting awareness on the importance of vigilance and social responsibility.
